Comments

Jason - Can I get an email address to send all of the feedback I'm getting from my engineers?

Hi John - It would be "best" if the comments were posted, as they may spark comments from others that could be missed if they are privately emailed (which is a large part of the reason for us posting these rather than simply sending them "privately" to a few customers).

If you still want to send the comments privately please send them to jason dot martin at autodesk dot com.

There were a lot of comments so that is the reason for asking. I will compile them and reply once to each post here.

From my Engineers:

I see no mention of the calculation of fittings.
In the industry, details often show the arrangement of specialty fittings (strainers, control valves, balancing valves, etc.) near a coil or some other device but for expediency and clarity, these items are not shown on plans. How will these specialty fittings be accounted for? Will it be the responsibility of the designer to include them and/or show them on the plans?
Connected devices such as coils will have pressure drops specified for that specific piece of equipment, I expect this will be a user input since it is unlikely to be able to gather all the data for all manufacturer’s information on every coil offered…true/false?
As the system is designed, will the program track and calculate the system information for sizing of pumps, etc?
We should also be able to use this data in calculations for expansion, as well. Expansion tank sizing for hydronic systems and even expansion loops for steam systems.
I expect this should cover fuel, oil, any temperature water, will steam sizing be an option, as well?

Sorry to dump this question in here, but I wasn't sure how/where else to ask: here goes.... Say I created a fourth type of duct system, call it Other. (Supply, return and exhaust being the first three, all supplied with Revit MEP)
I Model a family called energy recovery ventilator with four duct connectors, two called exhaust and two called other. Connect the Outdoor air to a duct system required to bring outside air into the building. Now it is impossible to set the symbology for duct rise and drop for the outdoor air ducts, Revit makes no provision for adding a fourth or more types. Would I be correct in saying that instead of creating "Other", I should have made the outdoor air connectors type "Supply" and set up my color to be different from regular supply air ducts using the filters in graphic visibility overrides?
