Autodesk Revit MEP 2010 Update 2 is available

I am pleased to announce that Update 2 for Autodesk Revit MEP 2010 is now available at http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...112&id=9262907.

The Update can be applied to all languages of Revit MEP. Currently, only the English download page has the update, but the other language download pages will be available by the middle of next month. Until then users with other languages can download the update from the English page.

Please note: the update release does not contain any new functionality. However, we are developing functionality enhancements that will be available to Subscription customers in the near future. The functionality enhancement release will include Update 2.

Revit MEP 2010 Families Guide Now Available

You can now download the Revit MEP 2010 Families Guide. Some highlights in this year's guide:

• The Family Editor overview and concept chapters now contain more MEP-specific examples.

• The tutorial exercises include more background information to explain why you are performing certain Revit-specific operations.

• The tutorial exercises also include more images that make it easier for you to see where to click when performing a step. Other images have been added to show you the desired outcome of the step.

Residential HVAC Load Calculation Extension Now Available on Subscription

The Residential HVAC Load Calculation Extension for Revit® MEP 2009 software and AutoCAD® MEP 2009 software is a residential and light commercial HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) load calculation software tool that determines peak cooling and heating loads for buildings. By downloading this extension, MEP professionals will be able to properly size building mechanical systems for residential and light commercial projects. Architects, home owners, and home builders can also benefit from the software tool on their projects. The extension can be used stand-alone or in conjunction with other Autodesk® technology. The extension is able to integrate with these tools by importing and exporting gbXML.

Revit MEP Space Naming Utility is Now Available on Subscription

I am happy to announce that a new add-in is available for the 32- and 64-bit versions of Revit MEP 2009. The Space Naming Utility software is an intuitive tool that automatically assigns the names and numbers from architectural rooms to Revit MEP spaces.

By downloading the Space Naming Utility software, you can eliminate the need to manually assign names to the spaces helping save a tremendous amount of time and simplify your workflow.

Specifically, it does the following:

1. Can both name and number the spaces similar to the enclosed architectural rooms.
2. Can automatically name/number all spaces in a model, or by specific level.

New Content Extensions for Revit MEP 2009 available on Subscription Center

I am pleased to announce two new content extensions for Revit MEP 2009 that are available on Autodesk Subscription Center:

The "US Content Extension for Revit MEP 2009" contains imperial and metric duct and pipe fitting families that adhere to SMACNA and ASME standards, respectively.

The "UK Content Extension for Revit MEP 2009" contains duct fitting families that adhere to the DW/144 UK industry standards.

Please log on to Subscription Center and click the link labeled either "US Content Extension for Revit MEP 2009" or "UK Content Extension for Revit MEP 2009" to go to the web landing page that allows you to download the content. A ReadMe file exists that explains how and where to install the files.

Revit MEP 2009 Released!!!

I wanted to let everybody know that Revit MEP 2009 has officially released! We have activated the download for the release, which can be found here.

Like a proud parent watching their children (you) learn to ride a bike (Revit MEP), we hope that you will be successful in riding that bike wherever you may want to go. With many improvements since last years bike, we hope that you all will ride without training wheels (Export to AutoCAD), avoid falling (crashes), and hitting holes in the road (workset issues).

Biking analogies aside, we hope you all enjoy using the new release, and take some time to explore the new features and workflows that have been implemented.  I will continue to discuss the new release with all of you here Inside the System.
