MEP Design and Engineering
The MEP Design and Engineering track presents topics that are important to MEP and building systems engineers, designers, and drafters. MEP topics are also important to BIM/CAD managers who want to learn more about Autodesk software for building information modeling (BIM), performance analysis, design, and documentation. We invite proposals for MEP engineering classes that feature AutoCAD® MEP and Autodesk® Revit® MEP software.
Classes will be appropriate for intermediate and advanced users, with intermediate classes that help users move from pilot to production. Classes will discuss how to move to a BIM workflow with Revit MEP at the core, while remaining productive by using AutoCAD® and AutoCAD MEP for increased design and drafting productivity and to create construction documentation.
Topic Categories
Class proposals should address one or more of the following topic categories:
MEP Design
BIM using Autodesk Revit MEP at the core of the design process for fabrication, estimation, building performance, operation and maintenance, and the lifecycle of a building
MEP design from concept through the entire lifecycle
Design Collaboration
Workflows for dispersed teams that leverage collaboration software, such as Autodesk Bluestreak, Autodesk Revit Worksharing, Autodesk Revit Server, and Autodesk Vault
How different products within Autodesk® Building Design Suites can be used together
Getting a first project off the ground
Methods for enhancing integrated project delivery (IPD) between MEP engineers and architects, structural engineers, and contractors, including fabrication
Clash detection using Autodesk® Navisworks®
Design Visualization
Visualization techniques using Autodesk® Showcase® and Autodesk® 3ds Max® Design
Interoperability workflows using Autodesk FBX® and consistent material libraries to transfer data from Revit to Autodesk 3ds Max Design
Design Analysis
Rapid energy analysis and modeling workflows using Revit MEP and Autodesk Green Building Studio®
Daylighting and lighting analysis using Autodesk 3ds Max Design
Using the Green Building XML (gbXML) open schema to export data from Autodesk Revit Architecture, Autodesk Revit Structure, and Autodesk 3ds Max Design for use in energy analysis and building systems calculations
Reality capture using point clouds and image modeling
Design Documentation
Leveraging building MEP designs to extract construction documentation such as sections, elevations, schedules, and construction details for both new and renovation/retrofit projects
Core MEP modeling
Reality capture using point clouds for documentation
Advanced topics on AME and RME family creation
